MILAN DESIGN WEEK 2010_SHOGUN, DESIGNED BY LUCA NICHETTO FOR SKITSCH
Dopo la sedia Alle e lo sgabello Plinto, Luca Nichetto presenta il divano Shogun in occasione del Salone del Mobile di Milano.
Nell’antico Giappone lo “Shogun” era una carica militare. Il divano proposto da Luca Nichetto si ispira all’armatura di questo guerriero caratterizzata da una vestizione austera che, pur nella sua funzione protettiva, si adattava confortevolmente alle forme del corpo: questa seduta modulare da due o quattro posti si presenta con un’estetica essenziale, che può essere o meno vestita da una coperta in pelle o in tessuto, da utilizzare a seconda della stagione. Nella sua versione nuda i braccioli, sottolineano la comodità nello stare seduti, quasi cullati dalla forma accogliente del divano. La versione vestita è inoltre un tributo ai tradizionali divani “della nonna”, su cui venivano adagiate le coperte di lana.
Shogun è accompagnato da un pouf che può essere utilizzato come panca singola o, affiancato, come panca lunga o come day-bed.

In ancient Japan the “shogun” was a high-ranking military office, and this warrior figure’s armour, which was characteristically plain but cleverly designed to adapt itself to the wearer’s form in spite of its protective function, is what has inspired the sofa bearing the same name designed by Luca Nichetto. The essential structure of this modular 2- or 4-person sofa can be left bare or covered in leather or fabric, depending on the demands of the season. When left bare, the armrests enhance the comfort of sitting, as the couch’s inviting form almost seems to cradle the sitter. The upholstered version, in contrast, offers a further salute to the old-fashioned afghan-covered couch at grandma’s house.
Shogun is accompanied by a pouf that can be either used as a bench or placed next to the sofa to create a daybed.
